Career Fair Preparation

Career Fair Prep Session Power Point & Updates

    • Download the Power Point file from the presentation:  BAP Spring Career Fair 2013 Prep (39)
    • If you’re interested in Deloitte or any of the Big Four, you are advised to include on your resume the accounting courses you’re currently enrolled in, as well as all accounting courses you have completed thus far. Listing these courses helps recruiters understand where you are in the education process and allows them to place you into their programs accordingly. Different internship programs are intended for students with different levels of completed coursework. It is OK to list your accounting courses in a smaller font to keep valuable resume space free for other items. Also, many recruiters will want to see your accounting GPA, as well as your overall GPA.

Do your homework!

Research companies that will be at the career fair, and find out about which companies you think might be a good fit for you. Each career fair site will have a list of attending companies.

The Day of the Career Fair

Dress professional, and conservative for Finance and Accounting. Dark suit and tie with white/light shirt for men, business suit for women, while eschewing any low cut blouses. Nothing flashy. Show up early to talk to recruiters before they get too tired. Be friendly and smile, and put your best foot forward. Bring a folder or portfolio with plenty of resumes to hand out, with paper so that you can take notes about who you spoke with and your impressions.
