Eligibility requirements include national criteria mandated by the Beta Alpha Psi National Council as well as more stringent requirements enacted by our chapter.
The Mu Gamma chapter provides two programs to meet the needs of students.
Affiliates
Affiliates are students who have just begun their preliminary accounting or finance curriculum. Affiliates are not considered members of Beta Alpha Psi, but may participate in selected activities. Affiliates are admitted based on the following criteria:
- Designated USFSP or USF Sarasota as the home campus;
- Has declared–or intends to declare–a major in either accounting or finance;
- Maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher;
- Completed at least one of the following course with a grade of “B” of better: ACG 2021, ACG 2071, or FIN 3403;
- Payment of an affiliate fee as determined by the executive committee.
Regular Membership
The first semester of official membership in Beta Alpha Psi is for candidacy for induction. After completing all the requirements for renewal, candidates are inducted. Candidates and members transferring from another chapter are admitted based on the following criteria:
- Designated USFSP or USF Sarasota as the home campus;
- Has declared–or intends to declare–a major in either accounting or finance;
- Completed a minimum of 63 credit hours;
- Maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher;
- Maintained a major GPA of 3.0 or higher;
- Completed at least one upper-level course with a grade of “B” of better in one of the following subjects: ACG, FIN, or TAX;
- Payment of membership dues as determined by the executive committee.
Important Notes
- A student who does not have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher may be accepted if the GPA for the last 30 credit hours is 3.25 or greater.
- Graduate students may be accepted having a stated interested in accounting or finance in lieu of declaring a major.
- Any applicant who meet the requirements for candidacy are not eligible to be an affiliate.
